Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn't just arrive in theaters on Dec. 18: it also appears as a play set in the sandbox adventure video game Disney Infinity 3.0 on that date.

A new trailer for the play set released by Disney shows the new Star Wars playable characters available including Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron.

The trailer for the Disney Infinity 3.0 play set is also nearly identical to one of the original film trailers, but with the game's versions of the characters in action instead.

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens play set takes players to a galaxy far, far away as they take on characters from the film and "search for a much-needed ally." Of course, the play set includes lots of additional items, including new lightsabers.

The idea of the Disney Infinity 3.0 game is to bring toys to life—in this case, toys related to the Star Wars franchise. Previous versions of Disney Infinity included Marvel and Disney characters.

Each play set for Disney Infinity 3.0 has its own campaign, which usually allows for up to two players. Playing through a play set's missions, though, unlocks objects, such as additional vehicles, for use in the game's toy box mode, which allows players to create their own games in an open-world arena.

In order to create the game, Disney Infinity 3.0 developers had early access to the top-secret script for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens film.

"I would say that myself and about six others were given access to the final version of the script about a year ago," said Disney Infinity's Vice President of Production John Vignocchi to Newsarama. "I read the entire script, and it's an incredible burden to have done."

For those who haven't yet played Disney Infinity 3.0, the developers want players to know that they improved gameplay from previous games.

"One of the big improvements in Disney Infinity 3.0 is, thanks to the great work by Ninja Theory, is our lightsaber combat system," said Vignocchi. "It's a new system in the game that works for lightsaber combat, but also expands to any hand-based weaponry—for example Jack Sparrow, who wields a cutlass, benefits from the new lightsaber combat system."

Grab the Star Wars: The Force Awakens play set for Disney Infinity 3.0 next month for PC, Wii U, Apple TV, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
