The live platform, dubbed as "Reddit Live," went on a semi-open beta testing period in February and allowed exclusive access to Reddit employees and a few chosen beta testers. It was created as the company's response to the increasing blog submission trend wherein users would regularly update a post as new information comes along. However, users found some issues with the submission process such as limited post updates, disabled headline altering, and non-collaborative access among users.

Now that it has become officially live, it can cater to more users who are keen on sending unlimited posts and getting live updates even if the page thread is not refreshed. The new live platform is designed to make the whole process as easy and as user friendly as it can be. Post updates can now be done without any limit. Significant blog sections such as headlines, descriptions and updates can be easily manipulated through editing or deleting them at any time of the day.

As the first project of the site, Reddit Live was concocted from the comment boards filled by users who clamor to have a platform where they can easily track live events even without refreshing the page. Other actions supported by Reddit Live would include embedding of images, tweets, YouTube links and others. Users can even identify and assign someone to make real-time thread-bound updates by enabling the person's Reddit Handle. The live submission becomes a relatively simple process with the submission thread's easy closing or deleting capacity.

The company expressed that "Unlike with self-post or comment based live threads, there's no limit to how many updates can be posted during the course of an event. These live threads exist outside of subreddits and are designed to be submitted, like any other link, to whichever (multiple) subreddits are relevant to the thread. Pictures, video, and more can be embedded in the updates by simply pasting a link."

The company further expressed that it had worked really hard to enhance the platform and had even released some ad-inviting frontpage location targeting. Through this, users can easily locate certain products and services such as movie premiere schedules. It will also give information on the allowed areas of product shipping, concert invitations, meetups and a whole lot more.

It should be noted that the company had a live thread feature on the Ukraine conflict which debuted during its beta period. The thread had been regularly updated by users for an impressive duration of almost five months now.
