Android smartphone owners will soon have a handy way of dealing with the management of their myriad apps on the home screen, thanks to start-up Cover.

Cover, which is an invite-only Android lockscreen replacement, shows a user what apps he/she wants and was launched on Thursday, October 24.

"The Android ecosystem and market is huge, yet every other startup goes iOS first. There are all these users used to getting things second and that sucks. There's a huge market opportunity. I really want Android users to say, 'Finally, a company building for Android first,'" says Cover's CEP Todd Jackson.

It is the brainchild of ex-Google, Yahoo and Facebook engineers and will provide users with a quick shortcut to apps. To illustrate, for example you woke up then Cover will load your lock screen with apps like email, Twitter, Instagram etc. as they are used by use mostly in the morning. Basically, the Cover app familiarizes itself with your habits, which apps you use when, and according to the frequency and timing, places them on the lockscreen for faster accessibility.

Similarly, navigation apps will be pulled up on the lockscreen when you're in the car and games/entertainment app will be drawn when you're on your couch.

Cover is compatible only with Android and will not work on any other platform. Once a user has signed up for a Cover invite and has received the same, the start-up will put you in the beta tier and you'll be able to espy the Cover app in the Google Play store.

Install the app and once this is done, Cover will take over the lockscreen; however, all your customizations and the homescreen remain intact and unaffected.

The "Peek" feature on the app is also a super quick way to gain access to all your apps. To sign-up for the invite-only Cover app, head here.
