NBC Entertainment confirmed in August that the network is trying to find a way to bring "Xena the Warrior Princess" back to the small screen. Now, it's all set to finally begin production after finding the reboot's writer in the person of "Lost" scriptwriter Javier Grillo-Marxuach.

Bob Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman, said that the reboot would most likely not be a continuation but that the actual direction of the story would depend on the writer they will be able to tap. It's hard to go wrong with a multi-awarded writer like Grillo-Marxuach, but the probability of success of the reboot still hangs in the air since the originals would have to at least reach the caliber of the original Xena, Lucy Lawless, and Renee O' Connor, Xena's Bard companion, best friend and soulmate, Gabrielle.

The charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of "The Hunger Games" Katniss, is what's required from the actress that will take the role of Xena. Lucy Lawless does not seem to be a part of the project but Greenblatt said he would love to have her on board, albeit behind the camera.

"We'd love to have Lucy be a part of it - if we felt that her presence didn't overshadow the direction we take with it... I'm not sure how she could be part of it if she wasn't playing Xena, and I don't know if that's a direction we'll ever go," Greenblatt said.

We can't argue with Greenblatt on that sense because Lawless is Xena and it will be difficult for the production to find a person who can provide the kind of wit, humor and overall strength that Lawless injected Xena's character with.

On the one hand, the fans are surely excited about the news, and on the other, Lucy Lawless seems to support the project so we're all just hoping the reboot would really be worthy of Xena's reputation.

Grillo-Marxuach is also serving as executive producer for the series reboot, along with the producers of the Lucy Lawless led original, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.
