When it was announced that popular Korean MMO Black Desert Online would be coming to the West, most of the attention was dedicated to the game's gorgeous visuals. In fact, that's all we could focus on in our article about the game releasing stateside.

A large portion of the game's look can be accredited to the incredibly detailed characters that player's can create using the Black Desert Online's tools. It's perhaps the most visually striking and in-depth character creation kit ever seen in a video game. The MMO is set have a second closed beta test next month, but the developers have now released the game's impressive character creator as a free, standalone download.

The fact that the character creator is nearly seven gigabytes should give you an idea of how powerful the tool is. Players can choose from eight different classes and dozens upon dozens of different faces, hair styles and more. You can even customize the shape of your hair in each hair style, and it's all made easy with simple to understand tools.

It's kind of absurd the level of detail players can get into here, but that's what makes it so fascinating. If you do spend hours upon hours making a character you fall in love with, you'll be able to save your character data to be used in the game when it releases. The trailer below doesn't fully do the creation tool justice, but you can check out some of what we're talking about below.

No exact word on a definitive release date for the title, but we do know the game won't be free-to-play. Instead, players will purchase Black Desert Online once and have access to all of the game's content without a subscription fee. A mictrotransaction store will be available where players can purchase vanity and convenience items.
