Tachyon Project just hit the PlayStation Store and fans of the dual stick shooter ought to know that there are two ways to play it: normal or in style.

We compiled a list of tips and tricks to give you the best gameplay experience possible and to show you what it is that makes Tachyon Project unique.

Offense Is The Best Defense

In Tachyon Project, your health depends entirely on how much time you have left. For each enemy destroyed, the player gets a few precious extra seconds. The rule of thumb is, when you find yourself in a tight spot, let the berserker out and be aggressive.

By doing so, you might just get that bonus time that will allow you to catch your breath and reposition on the screen, ready to face another wave of invaders.

For more relaxed situations, when you somehow manage to accumulate enough time, using a mine or an explosion to wipe out a batch of enemy ships is the way to go.

Keep It Hidden, Keep It Safe

Tachyon Project features a number of stealth levels, easily recognizable from their general darker atmosphere, wherein your ship shines like a little beacon of hope. Laying low in these missions might be the difference between replay and the next level.

Fortunately for you, the game directs enemies towards your last know position, which is signaled by a shadowy image of your ship. You should also know that you reveal your position only when firing your weapons, or when your cover is blown by a special type of enemy, such as seekers and radars. Do you remember the Sentinels from the "Matrix" series? It is a bit like that, but more real.

This is a great opportunity to wreak havoc using mines and explosions. Move into position A, fire away, then move into position B and sync your explosions with the moment enemies gather at position A. Should you find this strategy suited to your play style, you can also use it in non-stealth levels. All you need is a decoy that attracts enemies toward it, while you pepper them with mines and explosions from a safe distance.

Stop! It's Hammertime!

A few enemies (read: bosses) are really challenging to defeat in standard mode, so Tachyon Project sports a nifty slow-down time feature. Using it, you may position yourself better before cracking down on the enemy's defenses.

Be Water, My Friend

With almost each level comes a distinct type of challenge, so you must constantly configure your ship accordingly. Experimenting with various weapon-perk combos could prove to be a winning strategy.

Insiders from the developing team recommend leaving the extra time perk on in story levels. However, if you find that after a number of attempts, the mission is too difficult, feel free to try out a more useful perk.

There is a high chance that a damage or speed bonus could help you clear out a buggering wave of enemies. One thing to remember is that you can get back to the extra time perk.

What Does This Button Do?

Some players make the mistake of rejecting a weapon throughout the game because their first experience was unpleasant. Maybe a combination of that weapon and a perk would do it more justice.

For example, you may notice that the shotgun and the laser are slower weapons, but an increased shooting speed perk could turn them from zero to hero. Although the bomb launcher is less than precise, pack it with a heat seeking perk and enjoy the pain of your enemies.

Also, the Frenzy secondary weapon deserves a place in your arsenal, as it can turn into a visual bliss when used correctly. Just sit back and enjoy the bullets and explosions that engulf the screen.

Fortunately for indie game lovers that do not have a PlayStation 4, Tachyon Project can also be found on Xbox One. No less than 31 other titles have been made available to Xbox One library in 2015, as you can see in this full list.
