Bungie announced on Jan. 22 that February will bring Destiny's first update for 2016 and it will last one week beginning Feb. 9. The weeklong event titled "Crimson Days" will deliver a new kind of playing mode called "Crimson Doubles," a 2v2 battle in the Tower, where players will have to pair up and put aside their differences to face the challenges as a couple and gain some sweet loot.

That's not to say a player has to stick to one partner the entire time. Bungie says it is possible to still choose more than one partner if that's really how a player wants to go about the game, just be reminded that this update is a two-versus-two mode so there's no escaping the couple play.

"It features a special twist, born of new gameplay and mechanics that only battle-tested star-crossed lovers will appreciate. You'll need a dancing partner – preferably one that compliments your fighting style," Bungie wrote.

As a special bonus, Bungie will be providing some information about the new update as well as sharing pro-tips for players in its community news site. Other than that, the February update will also bring along bug fixes and improvements which Bungie has been working on. Hopefully, the loot system has also been fixed.

However, some players expressed their discontent about the upcoming update and many of them conveyed that they want to see the story make progress rather than have another player versus player mode.

"I mean I love destiny and everything, but I was expecting something a little bit better Bungie, at least something worth our time like (quests for the missing exotics)," a Destiny player commented on the game's Facebook page.

Valentine's Day for gamers aside, Bungie also announced a few other updates. Lord Saladin has new items that will become available for players on Tuesday until Feb. 2 when Iron Banner returns. You can get Fusion Rifles, Scout Rifles, Titan Armor, Hunter Armor, Warlock Armor and a timed exclusive PlayStation Armor.

Bungie will post another update in a week's time to provide more information about the next update.
