It seems that Tesla boss Elon Musk has yet another big idea at the back of his mind – an electric jet. Yes, Musk has announced that he is 'quite tempted' to produce a vertical takeoff and landing electric jet.

He recently shared this concept during the Hyperloop Pod Award ceremony at Texas A&M where he served as the event's surprise special guest.

In a Q&A portion of the event, he was asked with regard to his next plans. He then said that he has been thinking of this next big thing "a bit more."

"I think I have something that might... close," he said. "I'm quite tempted to do something about it."

He then received a big round of applause from the crowd.

This isn't the first time Musk was heard sharing this specific idea. Actually, this past year, he already hinted that when he isn't in charge of SpaceX and Tesla, he would love to create an electric aircraft firm.

While we might even see the concept materialize into an actual jet a few more years from today, we can rightly assume that Musk is now putting more thought about this idea than before.

Musk was also asked how he can persuade people that his ideas are not crazy.

"That's generally what they thought," he said.

He added that when he was starting SpaceX, he confessed that he was mindful that people thought he was mad. He also said that seeing is believing. What convinces people, according to Musk, is doing valuable things.

Just what exactly this electric jet will do and serve has yet to be known.

A report from AutoEvolution notes that whether we like Elon Musk or not, what he is generally doing is help technology advance.

"He's the kind of man who challenges everything – even common sense once in a while – and humankind desperately needs to have at least one of these for every generation," it says.

Here is a video of the interview with Musk at the event.

In the meantime, NASA, last year, already tested its electric airplane that takes off vertically akin to a helicopter, yet flies like a plane.
