Qualcomm confirmed in a tweet that the upcoming flagship from LG will indeed sport a Snapdragon 820 processor. LG is expected to formally announce the LG G5 on Feb. 21.

It was late in October 2015 when Tech Times first reported on the LG G5 getting the high-end Snapdragon 820 processor. As days and months passed, more details about LG's next flagship kept pouring in.

First, the LG G5 is purported to have a full metal case, which can give the handset a premium look and feel.

Other rumored specs on the device include a 5.6-inch display, an iris scanner, a 21-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, a battery capacity of either 3,000 or 3,500 mAh and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The price of the LG G5 should be around $600.

Perhaps one of the most striking features that fans would like to see on the G5 is the so-called "Magic Slot" hardware expansion port. "Magic Slot" will reportedly allow users to expand the phone's features by adding hardware modules to their handset. This is similar to Apple's Smart Connector technology, which is used in the iPad Pro and Smart Keyboard.

As the G5 is rumored to have a full-metal build, rumors that the handset will have a non-removable battery also started making rounds. However, LG hinted on its official Twitter page that the upcoming G5 will feature a removable battery. The tweet had somehow caught a lot of attention as it also mentioned Samsung, which is expected to unveil the Galaxy S7 at the MWC event as well.

Apart from the Snapdragon 820 processor, other confirmed details for the G5 are the "Always on Display" feature and a secondary ticker display.

The "Always on Display" feature will show data such as time, weather, date and notifications without the need to wake the device.

The secondary ticker display will allow users to see notifications, shortcuts, weather information and more on the handset's second display found above the main screen.

LG had already sent out invites to the launch and judging from the picture that came with the tweet, it seemed like the company will be focusing on the fun and playful side of technology for its next flagship.
