It took thousands of hours, but someone was finally up to the challenge.

P.T. is a creepy trip through a killer's apartment, and lasts about an hour, including solving a variety of puzzles. And a Silent Hill fansite called TheGrateDebate was able to figure out how to reliably complete the last puzzle.

In a YouTube video, TheGreatDebate reveals that the solution was to say a certain name into your microphone. How he got that solution reveals the twisted and impressive thinking of game director Hideo Kojima. Watch the video to learn how he discovered the name to finish the teaser and how to actually do it yourself.

So what is this all about? It's a bit of remarkable marketing, actually.

On August 12, Sony released to the PlayStation Store a mysterious game called P.T. with little explanation. It took a few hours, but then someone finished the game where it is revealed that P.T. is a playable teaser for Silent Hills, the latest entry in the Silent Hill franchise.

Soon others posted videos of the complete P.T. experience, including the end. The problem is that no one knew how they finished it exactly. Some people would wander the final rooms for hours and some how stumble upon the ending, but would be unable to replicate it. Discussion across the Internet had people revealing all different methods to finish it, but none of it reliably repeatable.

HIdeo Kojima himself said he thought it would take a week for people to finish the horror game, working together all across the world. It took nine days. Check out the real solution below:
