The Corvette Z06 was revealed in January at the North American International Auto Show held in Detroit. It will be offered in a trio of trim levels such as the 1LZ, 2LZ and 3LZ. It will also come with a number of optional features in order for customers to create the best Z06 to match their lifestyle and needs. All of these can easily increase the Z06's price to reach more than $90,000.

The new cars from General Motors are powered by an absolutely all-new, supercharged LT4 V8 engine of 6.2 liters that has 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. These features deliver cylinder deactivation, direct injection, and continuously variable valve timing in order to achieve better efficiency.

The Corvette Z06 has also leveraged the other technologies found in its older sibling, the Corvette Stingray. These would include advanced driver technologies and the use of lightweight materials. The car's aluminum frame structure, compared with the previous Z06 that features a fixed roof, is said to be 20 percent stiffer.

"The 2015 Corvette Z06's performance and technical capabilities place it in the elite fraternity of supercars," said product and marketing manager Harlan Charles of Corvette. He calls the car "a race car that's street legal, married to a private jet for the road."

For a few thousand dollars more, customers can avail themselves with some interesting features to create a more personalized effect on their Z06. One of these is the "Carbon Fiber Ground Effects." This option, which costs almost $3,000, delivers carbon fiber body features. It includes rocker panels and a huge rear spoiler designed to enhance the car's aerodynamics component.

The next option is the special "Z07 Performance Package" which would cost at $7,995. It includes a slew of exotic features such as Brembo carbon ceramic-matrix brake system for enhanced braking performance and adjustable aerodynamic components, both front and rear.

Other charges would include tax, registration fees, and the destination charge which is set at $995.

GM compares the Z06 to other supercars such as the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the V-12 powered Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. The automaker claims that the Z06 will have a zero to sixty mph time in less than 3.5 seconds.

According to Corvette spokesman Monte Doran, the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 is the first Z06 to offer an eight-speed automatic transmission, the first to have a true convertible variant, and the first to use a supercharged engine.

"Chevrolet has developed a successful model for sharing components with Corvette and other models in the portfolio," said Doran.
