Sony is busy rolling out Android Marshmallow to a number of devices, including the Xperia Z5 series, the Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z3+.

Back in February, Sony Mobile U.K. revealed that the aforementioned devices would get a taste of Marshmallow on March 7. The company is apparently keen on keeping its word, as the latest version of Android is now rolling out.

First off, the Xperia Z5 series is receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow for its global variants. As the Xperia Blog reports, the update carrying firmware build 32.1.A.1.163 is now reaching all Xperia Z5 versions. The Xperia Z5 Premium and Z5 Compact are starting to get the new firmware as well.

Although the update does not bring the software to Android 6.0.1 at this time, it nonetheless packs Google's latest security patches for February.

In addition to the expected Marshmallow features, such as Doze, individual app permissions, Google Now on Tap, enhanced privacy settings and more, the update also brings a new home launcher into the mix.

It's worth pointing out, however, that Stamina mode is missing from this update, but is expected to be part of a subsequent firmware release. Another notable feature that's missing is adoptable storage, which is one of the highlight features of Android Marshmallow.

Aside from the Xperia Z5 series, Sony is also spreading the Marshmallow love to its older Zperia Z4 Tablet and Zperia Z3+. Both devices are now getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow with firmware build 32.1.A.1.163, i.e., the same one as for the Xperia Z5 series.

The Xperia Blog notes that the update is now available for the Xperia Z4 Tablet Wi-Fi (SGP712) and LTE (SGP771) and the single-SIM Xperia Z3+ (E6553). The dual-SIM version of the Z3+ should get the same treatment soon enough.

More devices in Sony's lineup should also get an update to Android Marshmallow this year, as the company promised to upgrade a number of Xperia smartphones and tablets.

For now, the Marshmallow-flavored Xperia Z5 series, the Z4 Tablet and Z3+ mark an important step forward. If you already got the update, drop by our comment section below and tell us what you think of it.
