There's a good chance you probably weren't tuning into the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on March 12 -- and it might be a pity that you didn't if you're a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. If you're wondering why, it's because the first sneak peek of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (also known as TMNT 2) premiered at the channel's annual award show.

Previously known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell, the followup to 2014's TMNT features a road-rager of an action sequence, placing anthropomorphic turtle teens Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael in the Shell-Raiser as they use their manhole cover cannon to knock bikers bent on blowing them up out of the way. And the best part? The clip is all set to rap group Run-DMC's classic hit "It's Tricky."

Fans also got a first look of the new Shredder costume: his large, looming helmeted head introduced the clip after a rollerblading, hockey stick-wielding troupe of performers executed their own action scene onstage.

And as Gizmodo Australia noted, Shredder's new look is, for lack of a better term, fierce. (In a deadly way.) Not only that, but it's a fiercely original design for the Turtles' number one villain.

While there's no official synopsis out yet, here's the premise:

"The Turtles come into conflict with T.C.R.I. scientist Dr. Baxter Stockman, the Foot Clan and the return of Eric Sacks, Karai, and their enemy, The Shredder, who has hired Stockman to create mutants of his own in the form of Bebop and Rocksteady. Meanwhile, an invasion above New York City is led by the Dimension X inhabitant known as Krang. The Turtles are joined in the fight with Splinter, and their human friends April O'Neil, Vern Fenwick and the vigilante Casey Jones."

TMNT 2 is set to premiere in New York City on May 15, and will be released nationwide on June 3.
