Lenovo launched its lightweight, budget-friendly notebook called Ideapad 100S in India on April 12.

This Windows 10-powered device is the latest addition to the series of laptops and notebooks produced by the company over the years, but it stands out when it comes to convenience and affordability.

The Lenovo Ideapad 100S has entered the Indian market with a launch price of Rs 14,990, with Snapdeal, Lenovo's exclusive retail partner, selling the silver-colored variant at a slightly discounted price of Rs 14,499.

Ashok Nair, Home and Small Business Director at Lenovo India said, "Lightweight notebooks that offer superior functionality at affordable price points are a compelling choice in an era where consumers are always on the go and want to stay connected. Another feature that every consumer asks for is long battery life which we are offering with this really cool product. With its attractive design and specifications, Ideapad 100s offers unmatched user experience."

Powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F processor that is paired with 2 GB of RAM, the Ideapad comes with a display measuring 11.6 inches and offers 768 x 1,366 pixel resolution and an Intel HD GPU. The company claims that the device can function up to 8 hours, a definite edge over other devices whose battery life maxes out after 5 to 6 hours.

The 32 GB internal storage capacity hints at a no-no for heavy software or latest video game downloads. Fortunately, it has a memory card slot for further storage expansion. The 100S sports two USB 2.0 ports, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but has no optical disk drive. The lightweight 1-kilogram (35-ounce) device also includes the usual features like a power port, a HDMI-port, an audio jack, and a card reader.

Although the maker has taken care of the sound system with the Dolby Advanced Audio, the camera specifications aren't that great. A 0.3-megapixel camera does nothing for Skype calls or clicking pictures.

Nonetheless, the Ideapad is all set to give stiff competition to Asus Eeebook, which was launched last year and offers the same specs but asks customers to pay a little bit more. It's a great buy for users looking for a budget-friendly device that can get their daily work done. The PC maker is already preparing to release the next-in-line convertible notebook called Lenovo Yoga Book, as reported by us over a week back.
