Instead of handwriting your recipes and keeping them in a little box, Forq is out to save you time with all of the same conveniences on your iPhone.

The app, which is free on iOS, is designed to catalog everything from recipes to food photos. Forq rolled out in beta mode on April 19, and it's being marketed under the slogan, "Great food deserves to be shared."

The idea behind Forq is a simple one — snap a photo of a meal and create a digital recipe. Forq boasts an Automatic Recognition feature, which means it can recognize the fine details of any food image and translate them into a legible, digital recipe. You can choose to share your recipes via Forq, or keep them private if you prefer to uphold your "secret ingredients."

To cater to modern-day foodies, Forq also has a feature that calculates the nutrition facts of recipes, including calories. This means that, now, you'll finally know exactly how much damage Aunt Jane's brownies are doing next time you whip up a batch.

Of course, you can store passed-down family recipes in Forq, too. If your loved ones download Forq, you can easily share recipes across the platform, making for simpler dinner coordination at the next holiday gathering.

Forq's community aspect makes it a worthwhile app for aspiring amateur chefs who are constantly on the hunt for their next great meal. Users can browse through public recipes and get their own ideas for meals to create at home. To fall in line with traditional social networking, Forq also allows users to search for recipes according to tags. This means that everything from #vegan to #dessert can help users navigate throughout a wide array of posts and suit their current cravings.

Forq calls images of food on its app "Snackshots." Snackshots can also be uploaded to document your good eats, wherever you may be traveling.

"Whether dining out with friends at your favorite restaurant or presenting a meal you've poured heart and soul into in your own kitchen, share your food adventure with the world," Forq states on its website.

As foodie culture continues to boom, the future looks bright for Forq as it capitalizes on our unwavering love of delectable food.
