Facebook has launched a feature that allows users to send and receive money through Messenger, with the process being a straightforward and simple one. The feature is free to use, and only requires that both the sender and the receiver have a MasterCard or Visa debit card issued in the United States.

A new report is now claiming that Facebook is not only looking to allow users to send and receive money, but also for users to earn from the posts that they make on the social network.

According to The Verge, Facebook is taking a look at ways on how users can make money from their posts, with a survey among users distributed this week hinting at different ways through which they can earn a profit or support a cause through the platform. Money can be made for the user or for the cause through methods such as a digital tip jar, branded content and receiving a part of the advertising revenue that Facebook makes from posts.

The survey also included a question regarding a "call to action" button, ways of sending donations and a "sponsor marketplace" that will match advertisers with users.

There is no indication that Facebook will launch all the features that were mentioned in the survey, though, as the survey could very well be just a form of market research for the company. However, having a tip jar in Facebook for user posts will certainly be an interesting feature to say the least.

Supporting the possibility that a tip jar could soon be coming to Facebook is the fact that the company has previously said that live video is able to generate 10 times more comments than taped video. This online behavior shows that real-time activities such as the tip jar would generate a lot activity, similar to how live videos are able to draw pledges.

The feature could see very heavy use from public figures that have a large subscriber base, as they could promote a cause and give their fans a way to donate to it right on Facebook.
