Good news for owners of two Samsung smartphones that released in 2014 – the Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy S5 Sport are getting updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Galaxy Note Edge users on Sprint will see the smartphone go from Android 5.1 Lollipop to Android Marshmallow. The over-the-air update (OTA) is being pushed out now for the Galaxy Note Edge and has the version number N915PVPU4DPD.

The software update will roll out from April 21 and will be completed by May 2, according to the changelog. Since the U.S. carrier is pushing out the update in phases, it may be a while before it reaches all Sprint subscribers of the Galaxy Note Edge.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Galaxy Note Edge users on Sprint not only upgrades the OS of the handset, but also brings several bug fixes and security updates from Google and Samsung.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S5 Sport, on the other hand, merely bumps up the smartphone from Android Lollipop to the latest OS. The latest update hits the Sport variant of the smartphone a few weeks after the Galaxy S5 benefitted from the bump-up.

The OTA update for the Sprint variant of the Galaxy S5 Sport has the version number Samsung G860PVPU2CPD1, based on the changelog. Sprint has revealed that the rollout of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update for the Galaxy S5 Sport will commence on April 21 and wrap up by May 11.

This update will also be pushed out to Galaxy S5 Sport users in phases and, therefore, if you do not receive it immediately do not be disappointed.

"Keep in mind devices receive the update in phases each day. Customer Care cannot tell users when they will exactly get the update. Please do not call asking," advises the network operator.
