The first round of the 2016 NFL Draft is in the books with Jared Goff and Carson Wentz going back-to-back as quarterbacks taken with the No. 1 and No. 2 picks, selected by the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles, respectively. Thursday night was also a memorable one for Ohio State, as linebacker Joey Bosa and running back Ezekiel Elliott were taken third and fourth by the San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys, respectively.
Now, those aforementioned NFL stars and every fellow first-round draft pick are available in Madden NFL 16's Ultimate Team mode for immediate play. That means Eagles fans can deal with Sam Bradford's complaining by swapping him out of the pocket and putting Wentz in at center as the team's new starting QB. After all, the Eagles only made three trades to move up to No. 2 to be in position to draft the North Dakota State quarterback.
If you want to see how Wentz and the other newly minted rookies rate, sit tight, as GameInformer.com is reporting that EA Tiburon will be posting all the first-round picks' player ratings, via Madden NFL 16's Ultimate Team mode's elite and gold versions, soon. It will be interesting to see if they dock Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, after footage of him inhaling a substance through a gas mask hit the Internet before the NFL Draft last night, stirring up controversy before he could even take the field.
GameInformer.com also reports that EA has launched a beta for a Salary Cap Ranked function within its Ultimate Team mode in Madden for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. That's in addition to the newly announced Madden championship tournament, which comes equipped with a $50,000 grand prize.
Gamers who haven't tapped their thumbs to Madden NFL 16 yet can play the title in its entirety absolutely free of charge on both Xbox One and PS4 as long as they have an EA account and a Live Gold membership (for Xbox One users). Better hurry, though, because that trial period only stretches to Monday night, expiring right before midnight at 11:59 p.m. ET. Or, the game is also available for download for $19.80 at EA.
