After years of praying and begging, fans have finally gotten their wishes where Matt Damon and another Jason Bourne film is concerned. A recent report has claimed that Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are both returning for another shot at a Bourne film by the request of Universal Pictures.

Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass teamed up for the first three successful films. After the end game, Damon was asked if he would be interested in doing another Jason Bourne film, to which he answered saying he would not if Paul Greengrass was not involved.

All hopes of Damon returning for a fourth shot at Bourne were all but a dream when Greengrass claimed he had nowhere else to go with the Bourne character. As it stands, Greengrass has clearly changed his mind and is ready once again to bring life back into a character that some view as a better spy than the iconic James Bond.

According to a report from Deadline, the plan Universal was toying with, was to release a Bourne movie on July 16, 2016. That movie would have been the sequel to Bourne Legacy, starring Jeremy Renner. However, with Damon and Greengrass back on board, plans have changed. The next Bourne film will be the one with Damon and Greengrass, while a follow-up with Jeremy Renner will take place either later in the year or in 2017.

Both films will be set in the same universe, but it is not yet certain if Universal is aiming to allow both characters to go on a team-up killing rampage in any of these films.

We're quite pleased to know that both Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass are returning for another film in the Bourne universe. The first three were no doubt the best of the four films, and while Jeremy Renner did a decent job, he was no Jason Bourne.

As it stands right now, the year 2016 is shaping up to be something extremely special since several much-anticipated films are set to release within that year. If all these films should turn out to be hit, 2016 could turn out to be the most successful year ever in the history of the entertainment industry.
