Baseball star Derek Jeter doesn't have much time left playing America's favorite pastime after announcing that the 2014 Major League Baseball season will be his last. It's an especially sad day for Yankees fans, who will be losing one of their heroes and team captain. Now Gatorade has channeled all those feelings into one moody commercial, and if you are a fan of the Yankees or of Jeter himself, you might get a little emotional watching.

The commercial is all black and white, with Jeter riding in a taxi through the Bronx on his way to Yankee Stadium when he decides to do something different for a change. He gets out and begins to walk the city streets of New York, all the while Frank Sinatra provides a fitting soundtrack.

Jeter meets fans young and old, signs memorabilia, listens to the stories and tributes, and generally looks like he is having a good time meeting all the people who admire and look up to him.

When he finally does arrive at the stadium in his iconic uniform, he steps out of the dugout to thunderous applause, an applause that he will only be hearing a handful of times more as his career comes to a close. Sure, if you aren't a Jeter fan this commercial likely won't have the same effect, but there is no denying that Gatorade, as of late, knows how to make a compelling advertisement that doesn't seem like an advertisement at all. Couple this ad with this "RE2PECT" ad from the Jordan brand and Yankee fans will have plenty of ways to reminisce about the good ol' days as Jeter takes a bow.
