Remember the time when flip phones were all the rage and flicking over the cover with a swish of your finger was "the thing"? Reminds you of a certain Motorola Razr handset doesn't it?

Well, guess what? The iconic flip phone could be poised to return - albeit potentially in a slightly new and sleeker avatar - if a new teaser video is to be believed.

On Thursday, May 19, Motorola Mobility posted a new video on YouTube with a cryptic message, which suggests that the Razr could possibly be making a comeback.

"Flip back to the Razr days of yesteryear and get ready for the future," notes the company.

The 45-second teaser video from Motorola Mobility is also accompanied by the following header: Moto 06.09.16. This suggests that Motorola Mobility is gearing up to launch a new flip phone on the above-mentioned date - that is June 9, 2016.

The YouTube video makes it all-too-apparent that the Moto Razr flip phone is in the pipeline. It shows a high school student speaking on the handset as she navigates her way to class. She is being watched by the superintendent and as she passes by, one can also espy a guy opening his locker and fishing out the flip phone to take a selfie. The flip phone from Motorola seems to be everywhere as all the students seem to be using the Razr.

The video ends with the message "TTYL" and the Motorola logo accompanied by the above-mentioned date.

The teaser video from Motorola seems to affirm that a new flip phone is on the cards and will launch next month. While the video gives a fleeting glimpse into the 2016 variant of the handset, it is unclear if the flip phone will be hingeless and what new features it will house.
