Siri can be snarky at times and may not know the answers to everything, but at least she is reliable in case of an emergency. In fact, the digital assistant has just become a heroine after saving a baby girl's life.

When the baby monitor showed that her baby daughter turned blue, Australian mother Stacey Gleeson rushed over to discover that the one-year-old had stopped breathing. Gleeson brought baby Giana to the floor to check her airways, and that's when she noticed she didn't have her phone.

During her moment of panic, the mom accidentally dropped her iPhone. Instead of wasting time to reach over and pick it up and fumble with it while taking her attention and hands off her daughter, she decided to yell out for Siri to call for help as she began CPR on her daughter.

Without a hitch, Siri called for an ambulance and put the phone on speaker so that Gleeson could inform the operator about the situation and send medical professionals to her residence. Her daughter was then able to breathe again by the time the ambulance arrived and made a full recovery once taken to the hospital. Baby Giana had been fighting a chest infection and bronchiolitis at the time when she stopped breathing.

The mother believes that the few seconds it took for Siri to get emergency services on the line while she performed CPR helped saved her daughter.

The incident occurred back in March, but Gleeson had recently contacted Apple to say thank you, which prompted the company to reach out to the 7 news in Australia to share the story.

This scenario highlights just how beneficial it could be to use Siri when in time of need. To turn on the "Hey Siri" feature, go to Settings > General > Siri > Allow Hey Siri. Users never know when she will come in handy — or even save a life.
