Gone Girl is the latest film starring actor Ben Affleck, the man who will wear the cape and cowl in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film. His new movie is based on the novel of the same name, and from what we are seeing, it appears the critics are really eating it up.

So far, Gone Girl has an 87 percent rating from critics on the movie site Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is directed by David Fincher, the man behind popular films such as Alien 3, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

So, what are critics saying about Gone Girl?

For Todd McCarthy, the chief film critic at the Hollywood Reporter, Gone Girl is a must-watch film that will leave viewers with a lingering feeling at the end of the show. McCarthy also explained that the film is true to the novel, so folks shouldn't expect a barrage of changes.

Manohla Dargis from The New York Times gave a deep observation of the film. According to Dargis, "At its strongest, Gone Girl plays like a queasily, at times gleefully, funny horror movie about a modern marriage, one that has disintegrated partly because of spiraling downward mobility and lost privilege."

Kenneth Turan from the Los Angeles Times seems to have enjoyed the film, as he praised Fincher's ability to craft a movie with superb actors who are capable of delivering in easy and complex scenes. "Gone Girl shows the remarkable things that can happen when filmmaker and material are this well matched," says Turan.

Xan Brooks, a movie reviewer from The Guardian, claims that while the film is good to watch, there was a clear rush to the climax, but that was not enough to derail Gone Girl from being an exceptional thriller.

These are just a handful of critics praising Gone Girl and its director, David Fincher. It is also great to see Ben Affleck shaping up to be a great actor because let's face it: he was terrible 10 years ago. Age has done the man well, and this makes us even more excited for his next big film.

Gone Girl opens in theaters on Oct. 3.
