With Apple's annual September iPhone event approaching, new details regarding the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro have surfaced. Images show the 4.7-inch smartphone will have a larger protruding rear camera and the 5.5-inch handset will include an enhanced dual-lens camera.

Apple just previewed updates to the software that powers all of the company's devices at WWDC 2016. The company showed off new versions of macOS Sierra, iOS 10, tvOS 10, and watchOS 3 and developers are already working on updates to their apps in order to take advantage of all the new features Apple introduced. Users can expect the final versions to be released in the fall and most likely in September, when the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro.

Details in the form of specs and leaked images have been hitting the internet on an almost daily basis and much of the latest information backs up previous reports. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro are expected to be the first iPhones to ship without the standard 3.5mm headphone port, instead Apple will reportedly ship the new smartphones with a Lightning adapter accessory in the box that will allow users to use their current headphones through Apple's proprietary Lightning port on the bottom of the handsets. We've already had a chance to see a few third party adapters being manufactured in advance of the pair's September release.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro are believed to feature a design very similar to that of their predecessors, with a few minor tweaks. New images of what are reportedly the rear cases for Apple's next-generation iPhones have just leaked and back up claims the pair will both have upgraded cameras and the 5.5-inch model will also include the Smart Connector port, which has been reserved for the company's iPad Pro tablets.

Nowherelese.fr posted an image of what is reportedly the 4.7-inch iPhone 7's rear metal case. As you can see in the image, the smartphone's rear protruding camera is larger than the iPhone 6s', leading many to believe it will include an improved CMOS sensor. It appears that this is a gold iPhone 7 and its antenna bands run along the top and bottom edge of the handset, again backing up previous reports.

The second image appears to show a rose gold iPhone 7 Plus/Pro and its much-talked about dual-lens rear camera is clearly shown with a pill-shaped protruding enclosure. The antenna bands are also said to be along the top and bottom edges, as well as a Smart Connector port on its rear that will allow the device to use accessories like external keyboards and wireless chargers, just like the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

You can bet that we'll be hearing more and more about the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro as we get closer to September and we'll keep you updated on any news as it happens.
