Honda has launched the Siri Eyes Free, which will allow users to interact with Siri hands-free, for some select Honda and Acura vehicles.

Honda announced that the Siri Eyes Free will be launched as a dealer-installed accessory for the 2013-2014 Honda Accord and the 2013 Acura RDX and ILX models. Users will be able to interact with the system without taking their eyes off the road, which means potential reduction in accidents.

"Honda recognizes the power of Siri Eyes Free to meet connectivity and convenience needs of its customers in a responsible manner," said Art St. Cyr, vice president of product planning and logistics, American Honda. "With technology becoming further integrated into people's lives, we are happy to provide next-generation connectivity and meet our customer's ever-changing needs."

Siri Eyes Free can perform a number of tasks as required by its owner. Drivers will not face any distraction using Siri Eyes Free and will not have to take their hands off the wheels while using the system.

Users of Siri Eyes Free will be able to send text messages and emails. The latest Siri add-on will also help users read incoming texts and emails. Users can also set up calendar entries, reminders and alarms. While driving, Siri Eyes Free can also offer its user weather information as well as sports scores and stock quotes.

Honda had initially announced the Siri Eyes Free for its cars in January this year as its part to integrate iOS with its vehicles even more. Apple also seems aggressive in expanding its reach in the auto market. At the launch of iOS 7, Apple highlighted the "iOS in the Car" feature that will increase the user experience of iOS devices in a car. Unfortunately, Apple has released iOS 7 but users are still waiting for iOS in the Car app.

The car maker also confirmed that it will reveal more Siri Eyes Free functionality for Honda cars on December 3.
