Remakes can be tricky because there's a balance to be kept between adding new features and keeping the old content intact. If the balance isn't maintained, the remake could be too dated for new players to care, or it could be too foreign to those who played the original. Over the years, the Pokemon remakes have managed to maintain that balance, satisfying fans who return to older games and appealing to those that have never played. Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the latest games to be remade, are no different.

Mega-Evolutions were a big part of last year's Pokemon X and Y. Essentially a mid-battle power-up, it would allow different monsters to obtain a new form, complete with new moves and abilities. It was relatively limited: only a fraction of the 700+ Pokemon were given new Mega-Evolutions. On top of that, Legendary Pokemon have always been a focus of the games, with each entry in the series containing roughly four or five of the super-powerful creatures.

Previously, Mewtwo was the only Pokemon to be classified as Legendary and receive a Mega-Evolution, but that changed when The Pokemon Company announced the newest change to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Rayquaza, the Legendary dragon, will receive a Mega-Evolution in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Rayquaza, also known as the Sky High Pokemon, is one of Hoenn's Legendary creatures. The base form will remain largely the same as the original from the old Ruby and Sapphire games, but the Mega-Evolved form will sport quite a few changes. The 'Delta Stream' ability is Mega Rayquaza's unique skill; when the Pokemon enters the battlefield, all weather effects become null and void. This ability could be extremely powerful, as weather effects can change how elemental type match-ups are played, and the fact that some players build entire strategies off of such effects means that Delta Stream could be a serious hindrance. 'Dragon Ascent' is Rayquaza's other new technique, and sports the highest Attack power of all Flying-type moves.

There's still a few weeks left before players can search out Rayquaza, but Nintendo has already announced a Special Demo version of the game to ease the wait. The demo will contain a previously-unannounced Mega-Evolution, and will actually let players carry the new Pokemon over into the full game. The Special Demo version will be released on the Nintendo eShop Oct. 15, while the full version of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be released on Nov. 21.
