Nintendo will be answering a lot of questions on its upcoming video game system, the Nintendo Switch, at a Jan. 12 event. Among the details that the company will reveal regarding the hybrid console include its price, release date and the games that will be available upon launch.

Gamers, however, should be more excited on what will be revealed at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2017 presentation, as Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima hinted that there is so much more to the video game console than what most are expecting.

"By no means was that everything," Kimishima said in an interview that is his first one since the announcement of the Nintendo Switch, referring to the video that unveiled the device to the public.

What Else Is There For The Nintendo Switch?

According to Kimishima, the Nintendo Switch will actually be a part of a bigger ecosystem. He claimed that accessories, which he thinks could also be called add-on hardware, will be coming to the hybrid console, and there will be a wide array of such accessories to choose from for gamers. It is possible that the Nintendo Switch will have alternatives to the Joy-Con controllers that slide off at either side of the display.

Kimishima also said in the interview that the company intentionally decided to keep certain titles coming to the system as a secret. He said that Nintendo wants people to experience the software for themselves once sampling events for the console launch in January. This could be hinting that some of the titles are utilizing features or accessories for the Nintendo Switch that are not yet revealed.

Kimishima, however, ruled out the possibility that third-party hardware would be made available for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo, however, does not block out the chance that other technologies will be added to the upcoming system, with Kimishima specifically mentioning the company's interest in virtual reality.

Will The Nintendo Switch Succeed?

Upon the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo saw its shares tumble by 6.5 percent the day after, showing that investors were not impressed with what they saw in the announcement video. One of the problems surrounding the Nintendo Switch were the many questions still remaining for the device, and according to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, the company will need to have an excellent presentation on Jan. 12 to win back investors.

"To tell you the truth, I was surprised," said Kimishima on the stock decline of Nintendo. All hope is not yet lost for the Nintendo Switch though, as through the hints that Kimishima dropped in the interview, the hybrid console still has the chance of giving the company a better competitive chance against Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One.
