Samsung is very thankful for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and has announced a deal just in time for Thanksgiving. The company is offering a free Gear VR headset with purchase of a Galaxy S7 or S7 edge from Nov. 24 through Nov. 28.

The recall of the Galaxy Note 7 has left a huge void in Samsung's flagship smartphone lineup and will reportedly cost the company $5.3 billion. The issue has forced the company to shift attention to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, to try and make up for the Note 7's absence. The company just recycled the Galaxy Note 7's exclusive Blue Coral color by releasing the new color option for the Galaxy S7 edge on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint and is expected to release a Glossy Black Galaxy S7 in December to compete with Apple's Jet Black iPhone 7.

Since the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will need to do most of the heavy lifting for Samsung until it launches the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in early 2017, it only makes sense the company would want to show its thanks just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

PhoneArena is reporting that Samsung has announced that it will give away a free Gear VR headset and gift pack with purchase of a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge between Nov. 24 and Nov. 28. The Gear VR normally sells for $99 and the gift pack includes Oculus content, which Samsung values at $50. Samsung just published the video below on its YouTube page to provide a glimpse into what Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners can expect when using the Gear VR for the first time.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with a 5.1-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD Super AMOLED display, and the S7 edge features a 5.5-inch dual curved edge screen. The smartphones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB of RAM and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, although users can update to Android 7.0 Nougat through the Galaxy Beta Program. The handsets include 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage, in addition to a microSD expansion slot that supports up to 256 GB microSD cards.

Samsung has packed in a 12 MP rear camera with the ability to capture 4K video and 5 MP front-facing snapper for selfies and video chat. The smartphones are IP68 certified dustproof and water resistant. The Galaxy S7 has a 3,000 mAh battery and the S7 Edge ships with a 3,600 mAh battery and both devices include Quick Charge 2.0 support and wireless charging capabilities.
