The Huawei Honor 8 started receiving its much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update on Jan.16, albeit in Japan.

Now reports are emerging that the global rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Honor 8 has begun. This news comes courtesy of PhoneArena.

"Less than a week after the official release date in Japan, we've received reports that Android 7.0 Nougat is pushed to Honor 8 in other countries as well," reveals the publication.

Earlier in January, Tech Times reported that the Android 7.0 Nougat software update is slated to make its way to the Honor 8 soon. The company had confirmed its roll out in Japan in a press release.

Now with news of the global rollout of the Android N update for the Honor 8 emerging, users of the handset will be eagerly awaiting its arrival in the United States. The over-the-air (OTA) update is expected to bring the EMUI 5.0 for the Honor 8 users.

The report shares that one of the screenshots has shown that the update's weight is nearly 2.27 GB. Interestingly, the update for the Honor 8 in Japan is much lighter and weighs 1.97 GB by comparison.

The complete changelog for the Honor 8's international Android 7.0 Nougat update is not available. However, considering the Honor 8 in Japan received some stability improvements, system optimizations, as well as enhanced app versatility post the update, it is expected that the same will be made available to other international variations of the smartphone as well.

When Will The Update Arrive

Honor 8 users in the United States who are eagerly waiting for the OTA update to hit their smartphone need to exercise some patience. Why? As Huawei has not shared the exact time window for the Android 7.0 Nougat's roll out in the United States or any other country for that matter.

The OTA software update will likely be an incremental rollout and, therefore, Honor 8 users in the United States can expect to receive it in phases, in a few weeks from now, once it is made available in the country.

Once the Android N update is available, Honor 8 users will receive an alert to update the software on their smartphone. Before you update your Honor 8 to Android 7.0 Nougat, make sure that you have sufficient free space on your handset. Ensure that the device has at least 50 percent battery charge and you have access to a stable Wi-Fi connection. Before updating, make sure you have backed up all important data.
