The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for LG's latest G3 flagship smartphone will begin rolling out this week.

The Korean company, which will be the first smartphone maker to roll the update, will be first launching the update in Poland, with other regions to follow.

The announcement by LG follows the leaked images and videos reported last week of a test build for the Android 5.0 Lollipop for the G3. The leaked images and videos revealed how the newest version of Google's operating system looks like on the G3, though most of the text was written in Chinese.

LG made a previous announcement that the company will be upgrading its smartphones to feature Android 5.0 Lollipop before the year ends, but said that the first countries to receive the update would be Belgium and Netherlands.

The reason for the change in the first country to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is yet unknown, though LG G3 owners in other countries and regions will not have to wait long to receive the same anticipated update after Poland.

Android 5.0 Lollipop will officially bring to Android devices Material Design, which is a programming language that allows for more visual depth, animations and shadows in the design of the operating system.

The update will also provide users with a new design for notifications, which could also be seen on the locked screen of the devices.

Users will also be able to unlock their Android 5.0 Lollipop device if it is in the vicinity of a Bluetooth device that it has previously paired with, which for LG could be one of the LG smartwatches that run Android Wear, the version of the operating system for wearable devices. This includes the G Watch and the G Watch R.

There is no definite schedule yet for when the other countries and regions will be receiving their Android 5.0 Lollipop for the LG G3. The company's previous flagship smartphone, the G2, will also be updating to the latest Android version, though the timeframe for that will most likely be later in the year or early next year.

"LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available and bringing Android Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority," said LG CEO and President Jong-Seok Park.

"The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is."
