Samsung has published a detailed release schedule for its Galaxy devices, indicating the release date for the software update for all Galaxy smartphones and tablets through the end of 2017. In addition to the imminent upgrades for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge and Note 5 and S6 edge+, the timeline indicates a release date for the older Galaxy A and J series along with several Galaxy Tabs.

Samsung Galaxy Android 7.0 Nougat Upgrade

We recently brought you the news that the vice president of Samsung electronics in Turkey, Tansu Yeğen, had published a timeline for release of the Android 7.0 Nougat update on his Twitter account. The schedule included expected upgrade dates for numerous Samsung Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S6 and its variants as well as the Galaxy Note 5 and latest A series.

The tweet was deleted shortly thereafter, indicating that the company may not have approved of the specific release date schedule being tweeted out to all the world. Now, however, it seems as if Samsung's Turkish division is in fact free to announce such news, as it has now provided a detailed timeline of all Samsung devices expected to be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat through the rest of 2017.

New Upgrade List Includes Additional Galaxy Devices

The list also includes numerous handsets that were not previously announced as scheduled to receive an Android 7.0 Nougat update. The initial list of devices set to be updated included the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge+, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock), Galaxy A3, and Galaxy A8. Now the upgrade list also includes the Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J7 from both 2016 and 2015, as well as the Galaxy On7 and Galaxy J7 Prime.

The schedule also gives specific dates for each rollout, with some minor delays from the previous timeline. The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade is now expected to be released on Feb. 27, the Note 5 on March 6, and the Galaxy S6 edge+ on March 13. The 2016 Galaxy A series is then set to roll out in April and May, while the older A3, A5, and A7 will be upgraded at the end of July. The Galaxy J series is then expected to be released on various dates from July through November. Both Galaxy Tab S2 variants will get Android 7.0 Nougat in May, with the Tab A versions receiving it in July.

While, of course, the exact dates mentioned are specific to Turkey, besides giving an excellent idea of Samsung's overall release timeframe, they also confirm the additional devices on the worldwide Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade list.
