Chris Hemsworth is crowned by People Magazine as this year's winner of the "Sexiest Man Alive" title. With a flourishing acting career that continues to soar, coupled with handsome looks and a well-proportioned build, it's a no brainer that the actor emerged as the recipient for 2014.

The announcement of the winner occurred on the Nov. 18 airing of "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Chris appeared in a Skype video call with his identity hidden at the beginning. The studio audience in Los Angeles started throwing questions to identify the "mystery man" behind the cover.

Some of the questions during the guessing game asked if Chris had ever been fat, if he had played a superhero in a movie, and if he had a famous sibling.

When the audience had established that the mystery man they were trying to identify was an actor who had played the role of a superhero and someone who was not born in the U.S., the next set of questions came up easily.

After answering yes to the question on whether the superhero character that he had played carried a hammer, Chris finally removed the sign that covered his face to answer the question that came next: "Are you Chris Hemsworth?"

Chris is the 28th "Sexiest Man Alive" to date. Last year, the title was given to Maroon 5's Adam Levine.

Chris started to become really popular after starring as Thor in 2011. He reprised the character in three more films, which include the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron.

"I think you've bought me a couple of weeks of bragging rights around the house," said Chris. "I can just say to her, 'Now remember, this is what the people think, so I don't need to do the dishes anymore, I don't need to change nappies. I'm above that. I've made it now.'"

The 31-year-old actor is referring to his hubby and daddy duties to wife, 38-year-old Spanish model Elsa Pataky, and their 8-month-old twin sons. The couple, who got married in 2010, has three children and a home in Australia.

Along with Chris Hemsworth and his predecessor Adam Levine, previous winners who bagged the "Sexiest Man Alive" honors include George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Ryan Reynolds, Matthew McConaughey, Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, and Brad Pitt, among others.

The new issue of People Magazine with Hemsworth on the cover comes out on Nov. 21.
