Motorola will offer its flagship Moto X (2nd gen.) at a significant discount on Cyber Monday. The Verizon Moto X will be priced at $0.01 and the unlocked smartphone will start at $359 without contract.

Motorola is looking to erase last year's Cyber Monday sale from consumer's minds, which opened with the company's flagship Moto X priced at $349 off-contract. The deal was highly praised since it offered a flagship smartphone on any carrier at a lower price and without the dreaded 2-year contract.

Consumers flooded Motorola's site on Dec. 2, 2013 and the increased traffic knocked Motorola's site offline for hours. Motorola later publicly apologized for misjudging consumer demand and offered the smartphone at a discount for a limited time on two new dates. The company is about to try Cyber Monday again and on Dec. 1 will offer its current flagship Moto X at $359 off-contract and the Verizon variant will be priced at a penny with a new 2-year contract.

The Moto X (2nd gen.) features a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD display with a pixel density of 423 pixels per inch (ppi). It's packing a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, and 2 GB of RAM. The handset ships with Android 4.4 KitKat but users can download a free software update to Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes in choice of 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage configurations.

The Moto X's camera capabilities include a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED Ring flash, 4K UHD video capture, 4X digital zoom, and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chat. Its 2,300 mAh non-removable battery will provide up to 24 hours of mixed usage, according to Motorola.

The Moto X has been well-received by reviewers and smartphone fans looking to have a solid device with the added benefit of having a software update to Android 5.0 Lollipop waiting for you when you power up.

Interested customers will need to head over to Motorola's Cyber Monday registration page on Monday, December 1, at 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT to sign up to receive a promotional code for the discount.
