Assassin's Creed Unity launched earlier this month with a number of issues. From poor framerates to game-breaking (and often times hilarious) glitches, many fans felt burned by this year's next-gen installment in the franchise. The fact that reviews for the game were embargoed until 12 hours after the game's release also didn't help matters.

Developer and publisher Ubisoft agrees.

"I want to sincerely apologize on behalf of Ubisoft and the entire Assassin's Creed team," Ubisoft CEO Yannis Mallat says in a post about the offer. "These problems took away from your enjoyment of the game, and kept many of you from experiencing the game at its fullest potential."

As compensation for all of Unity's problems, all players will be receiving the Dead Kings DLC for free when it releases early in 2015.

Dead Kings made up a large portion of Unity's season pass, along with the new side-scrolling game Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China. Reports have now surfaced that the season pass for the game can no longer be purchased. People who already purchased Unity's season pass, which included Dead Kings, will be compensated with an additional offer, but will still receive Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China upon the games release. Season Pass holders will be compensated by receiving one free Ubisoft game, including the yet-to-be-released The Crew and the brand new Far Cry 4. Players can also choose from Just Dance 2015, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Rayman Legends. The Assassin's Creed Unity season pass retailed for around $30.

Dead Kings has Unity protagonist Arno traveling to the town of Saint Denis after the events of the main game, where players can explore the city and underground tombs which house dead French kings.

"Use Arno's lantern to advance in the dark, fend off the animals creeping around the catacombs, and solve ancestral puzzles. Alternatively, put out the lantern and become one with the shadows," the description for the DLC reads.

This is the latest effort by Ubisoft to win back fans of the franchise. The developer has been hard at work fixing the numerous bugs and glitches found in the game. The latest patch, Patch 3, released today.
