Every year The Killers craft a Christmas song and donate the profits to charity. In the past they've worked with such talented artists as Elton John and Neil Tennant. This year is no different.

Except it totally is, because this year's song was co-created with Jimmy Kimmel and is the story of a lump of coal named Joel.

If that sounds totally strange, that's because it is. But Kimmel's initial song ideas are even worse. He shows up to the recording studio to hand out tacky Christmas sweaters to each of the band members before proceeding to name off one terrible Christmas song idea after another, ranging from "A Very YOLO Christmas" to "Grandma Got Trampled By Her Fat Family On Black Friday." He also has a strange obsession with Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off," attempting to shoehorn in lyrics from the song at every opportunity.

Eventually the group settles upon a heartfelt idea -- the story of a lump of coal that was chosen by Santa to fill the stocking of one naughty child. The following video is the result. Skip to around 5:17 for the actual music video. Imagine a more mean-spirited, and strangely moving, version of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and you'll have an idea of what you are in for. It might even bring a tear to your eye.

The song is available for purchase on iTunes. All proceeds from the song go towards the (RED) campaign, a charity dedicated to fighting the spread of AIDS.
