Unofficial Sparrow racing in Destiny has gained massive popularity, with a following that has even led to the formation of the fan-managed Sparrow Racing League.

Fans created the Sparrow Racing League because an official competitive racing league that is sanctioned and supported by Bungie is not yet present. However, video game website GameSpot found out that there is a possibility that such an official league could one day be launched.

In the unofficial Sparrow Racing League, players can race head to head in two modes, one which will allow the gamer to choose any sparrow of choice and the other will have both racers use sparrows on the same level, with no allowed upgrades.

The Sparrow Racing League is currently working on other types of races, including two-on-two races, relay races, and other forms of team races.

According to Eric Osborne, Bungie community manager, the idea of launching an official Sparrow racing league has been considered by Bungie. However, Osborne noted that he is not making any sort of promise on whether such an official league could be built or not.

"It's definitely an idea that has come up at the studio," Osborne said, during the PlayStation Experience event, adding that it was just one of the many cool ideas that the studio has formulated for their hit game.

Osborne said that part of the studio's strategy in sustaining the popularity of Destiny is analyzing the feedback from its players so that Bungie could keep on delivering the experiences that the gamers want.

"And race is definitely one of the things that has come up as a topic, so we'll see," says Osborne.

"It's one of those shifty, no-promises answers," he added.

On the topic of new ideas for Destiny, Osborne said that he has been happy with the number of content updates that has been delivered by Bungie so far. There will be a total of 12 content updates already for Destiny when The Dark Below, the latest update, launches.

Osborne said that the studio is not planning on slowing down with the content updates that it releases, as the game continues to maintain its massive following since its release. New players have been signing up for Destiny regularly, and Osborne noted that the studio has been proud of the pace that it is currently going on.

There have been several great ideas for Destiny, with a lot of these ideas doing well within the game, according to Osborne.

Additional expected support for the game includes a second expansion, named House of Wolves, on top of continued tweaks for game balance issues and modifications based on the feedback of players.

Activision, the publisher of Destiny, has recently announced the beginning of development on the sequel for the game.
