AT&T is the first carrier that offers consumers a wearable experience backed by a successful collaboration with Samsung. Beginning on Dec. 12, customers of AT&T can get their hands on the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition and start enjoying mobile content in a stunning 360-degree environment.

The Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition is an over-the-head device that is perfect for viewing media and gaming content. It is paired with and powered by the Galaxy Note 4, which connects to the wearable through a micro USB connection in order to generate content and provide battery life. Since it is powered by a smartphone, content creators and VR enthusiasts now have the chance to get the first low-persistence virtual reality experience. Content is easily seen and experienced as it is being created.

"With Gear VR Innovator Edition, Samsung is putting the device in the hands of creators to craft amazing experiences, as we define this new mobile category together," said Justin Denison, vice-president of product strategy and marketing at Samsung Telecommunications America.

The Gear VR Innovator Edition is very light and feels comfortable to wear as it is made with soft, lightweight material that also offers flexible cushioning. It comes with a 16GB card, which is pre-loaded with content. Soon, customers can download more games and apps from the Oculus VR app. Some of the games that are currently available are theBlu, Anshar Wars, HonorBound, VR Quest, Land's End by UsTwo, and Temple Run by Imangi Studios.

Powered by Oculus, the Gear VR Innovator Edition will be available with a price tag of $199. However, the wearable will have to be paired with a Galaxy Note 4 in order for it to work. Users can check it out at ATT.com and Samsung.com.

Users should note that while the wearable offers a unique mobile virtual reality experience at an affordable price, the device is not the final version. As its moniker says, the wearable is an Innovator Edition, which makes it ideal for developers. However, early adopters, particularly those brave enough to take in and accept whatever happens along the way, can also take advantage of the offer. It's also ideal for those who are eager to lend a hand in making mobile virtual reality a more immersive experience.
