This year gave us a lot of contenders for the top viral video. President Barack Obama sat down with Zach Galifianakis for a hilarious installment of Between Two Ferns. A kid won the Internet just by saying the word "apparently" a gazillion times. And Taylor Swift went crazy... in her music video for "Blank Space," that is.

However, it is the end of the year, and that means only one video can earn the disctinction of being the top video of the year. So which one reigns supreme?

Apparently, people are really into dogs dressed up as tarantulas, because SA Wardega's "Mutant Giant Spider Dog" took the top spot as YouTube's top trending video of 2014. In this nearly four-minute video that is like a mini-horror flick, Wardega, a Polish actor and director, unleashed his dog Chica, dressed in a very convincing tarantula costume, on unsuspecting citizens and scared the crap out of them.

In the No.2 spot is a Nike ad disguised as a fantasy soccer match featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and other footballers. This was followed by that black-and-white video of strangers kissing for the first time, a singing nun who belted Alicia Keys' "No One" on the Italian version of The Voice and an iPhone 6 Plus bend test.

Something to keep in mind here is that these aren't necessarily the YouTube videos with the most views this year, but the "top trending," according to YouTube. The user-generated video streaming site took many factors into account when preparing this list, which included "views, shares, comments, likes and more."

YouTube also announced its top music videos of the year. Believe it or not, Katy Perry took the top spot with her video for "Dark Horse," which also featured Juicy J. The rest of the top five included "Bailando (Espanol" by Enrique Igelsias featuring Descemer Bueno and Gente De Zona, "Can't Remember to Forget You" by Shakira featuring Rihanna, "La La La (Brazil 2014)" by Shakira featuring Carlinhos Brown and "Wiggle" by Jason Derulo featuring Snoop Dogg. Well, that was a surprising list.

In case you like your viral videos all in one crazy universe, you can also check out this YouTube Rewind video that features the stars and songs of the biggest viral videos of the year. It's not as good as the original videos, but you will probably freak out when your favorite YouTuber comes on screen.
