Matthew McConaughey is known for gripping performances in a wide variety of roles. Dallas Buyer's Club saw McConaughey transform himself into a Texan drug tycoon, while Interstellar saw the actor become a NASA pilot. The man won Best Actor for a reason; McConaughey is able to completely change himself in order to suit a role.

So, what happens when said role is 'man in coffee shop' or 'man driving car?' It'd be easy to assume that such a part may be a bit of a waste of McConaughey's acting talents...because it is. Even so, that didn't stop Lincoln from casting the Academy Award-winning actor in more of its fancy-schmancy car commercials, complete with philosophical musings. Take a look at the latest one below:

It's certainly the moodiest car commercial in recent memory, but the whole thing seems like it's a bit below Mr. McConaughey's talents. The commercial is literally 15 seconds of McConaughey sitting in a cafe, then 15 seconds of exterior car shots. It just doesn't seem to make any sense - why would one of the biggest actors in Hollywood agree to do such a small project?

In Mr. McConaughey's own words, "It's not about hugging trees; it's not about being wasteful either. You've just got to find that balance where taking care of yourself takes care of more than just yourself."

That sounds like something off of a Starbucks cup.

There's no denying that the commercials are beautifully shot (as to be expected from Nicolas Winding Refn, who directed Drive), but that doesn't make them any less bizarre or pretentious.

Look, Mr. McConaughey, you've made it; there's no need to do this sort of project anymore. You've won Oscars - don't worry about shooting car commercials.
