U2 frontman Bono has had a rough year. He was involved in a brutal cycling accident that he is still recovering from, and he will likely never recover from the army of angry iTunes users who had U2's latest album forced upon them (free of charge.)

But he's starting 2015 off on the right foot by writing a massive A to Z review of his experience with 2014. Buried deep in the middle of the mountain of text under "I is for Irish Pride" is a sad tidbit for Bono fans: the musician says he may never play guitar again.

"I broke my hand, my shoulder, my elbow and my face but the real injury this year was to my Irish pride as it was discovered that under my tracksuit I was wearing yellow and black Lycra cycling shorts," Bono writes. "Yes, LYCRA. This is not very rock 'n' roll.

"Recovery has been more difficult than I thought... As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again. The band have reminded me that neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this.

"I personally would very much miss fingering the frets of my green Irish falcon or my (RED) Gretsch. Just for the pleasure, aside from writing tunes. But then does the Edge, or Jimmy Page, or any guitarist you know have a titanium elbow, as I do now? I'm all elbows, I am."

That's a bummer, but it seems like Bono may have already found a replacement. Under "J is for Jimmy Fallon," Bono writes:

"He is the second coming of the late show. But the reasons are very 21st century - a horizontal rather than vertical relationship with his audience. He is not just a friend of the famous he is everybody's friend. The pain of my bike accident didn't compare with the disappointment of cancelling a week hanging out on his show. He made it worse by being a better Bono than I could ever be."

Along the way Bono also comments on everything from free speech and the Internet, the iTunes debacle, the baby Jesus, the next generation and lots, lots more. Bono starts off the blog by saying "This is too long. You should not have time to read this. If you do get to the end of it then you are probably on the same painkillers as me," but it truly is a fascinating read if you have the time. Or the painkillers.
