Moon Pod Review - Is it Worth Buying?

Ask most adults if they should have a bean bag in their living room, and the resounding answer will be no. The Moon Pod is a reimagined version of the bean bag. While the Moon Pod is a grown-up version of the college standby, it is, however, still a bean bag chair

Addressing whether it belongs in your living room, you do need to keep in mind that it does sit on the floor. Kids, teens, and young adults would have no issues with this. However, anyone with knee or back issues may have a tough time comfortably using the chair.  This chair is not something I could imagine Grandma spending much time lounging in.

Whether or not it is suitable as a permanent fixture in your living room would be a highly personal decision. This decision would depend on your personal sense of style. If you live in a small space, this chair is an excellent alternative to extra seating that does not take up much space. If your décor is trendy and modern, the Moon Pod would fit in well.

If your décor doesn't lend itself to the Moon Pod, the good news is that it weighs 12 pounds. The weight makes it easy to move from room to room with ease. You can even store it in a relatively small space until needed. I would recommend considering the price point if the chair is something you would plan to store except for occasional use.

If you like how comfortable the chair is, and love to use it for TV watching and gaming, you can always put it in the corner of your bedroom until you want to use it in the living room.  Remember, this is not the round plastic covered bean bags of days past.

You will also need to define your needs and how you use your living space. If you have children, teens, and frequently have extra guest, this chair may be a solution.  If you have a formal living area that rarely sees lounging, then it is probably not something you want for that room.

We have a large family with teens and young adults still at home. The Moon Pod spends most of its life in the game room, where it is well used and well-loved. However, it inevitably finds its way into the living room when we have an extra guest. It might not highlight the décor, but it is better than having people sit on the floor.  For large families or people with frequent guests, this is a huge plus.

On family movie night in the game room, the race is always to the Moon Pod. Though the space-gray cover that came with the chair works in almost any space, we have ordered a second cover in Neptune blue to better match the game room décor. It will not be available until December, but I'm curious to see how it looks.

The washable and interchangeable extra covers are a definite bonus to keep the chair looking clean. The interchangeable covers are also nice to add a pop of accent color to a room. That said, changing them is a chore. The cover we have has been through a few wash cycles and still looks new.

The extra outer covers, like the chair, are expensive compared to similar products. It has held up well to rough use, which was a concern when deciding to buy the chair. I think the Moon Pod is more suitable for a bonus room or bedroom in most homes. Use the advantage of the lightweight design to move it where you need it. For the price of the Moon Pod, you could also choose to buy a comfortable accent chair if that better suits your style and needs. However, chairs as comfortable as the Moon Pod will probably come at a higher price point.
