Wonder Woman saves you from COVID-19 as Warner Bros pushes release on cinemas

Wonder Woman 1984, set to be released in the summer season of June 5, will still push the original plan of its distributor Warner Bros. to be released on public cinemas nationwide.

This is what WW 1984 Director Patty Jenkins revealed today on Indiewire saying that the cinema screenings of the film will still go as planned despite government's restrictions of closing all local cinemas in the country in order to protect citizens from spreading and acquiring the virus.

The director clarified that Warner Bros. still aims to push the film on its nationwide screening despite the issues saying that the film will be shown on online streaming only. Based on the initial report from The Wrap, Warner Pictures Group Chairman Toby Emmerich and his top advisers were seriously considering bypassing theaters on June 5 in order to release the Wonder Woman sequel straight to streaming via on-demand services only.

This was the first rumor that made fans confused about whether they will still wait for the nationwide cinema screening or will just standby on streaming websites available. Interestingly, Director Jenkins clarified that as of now, the decision to show it to local theatres is still final.

As also explained by Jenkins, there is still no official orders from Warner Bros of changing the official release date of Wonder Woman 1984. This means that the release date of June 5 is still continuing as of now.

Compared to WW 1984, a lot of other movies expected to be screened on March, April, and June such as "Emma," "The Invisible Man," and "The Hunt"-- already announced the cancelation of public showing on theatres and now focus on releasing the films through online streaming apps.

As of now, the U.S. government still prohibits all social gatherings and advising all citizens to limit their movements within their homes in order to curb the wider spread of the virus.
