Twitch Stream Aid 2020 Event

According to a report by Destructoid, the Stream Aid 2020 will start tomorrow, March 28, at 9:00 A.M. PT or 12:00 P.M. ET.

The livestreaming event will feature 12 hours of nonstop celebrity appearances, musical performances, as well as gaming tournaments and streaming that will be attended by big names like Lauv, AJ Mitchell, Brandy Clark, Diplo, Die Antwoord, Jordin Sparks, Charlie Puth, Barry Gibb, Garth Brooks, Ryan Tedder, and more.

Additionally, Super Bowl Champion and the brand ambassador of the San Francisco 49ers, Richard Sherman, will also be making an appearance along with Darius Slay of the Philadelphia Eagles in Stream Aid 2020, where they will be playing Call of Duty: Warzone.

Speaking of Call of Duty, The Seattle Surge, which is a professional eSports team, will also be attending the event.

Professional Streamers are Joining

Besides the Seattle Surge, well-known streamers like Nick "Nick Eh 30" Amyoony, who currently has over 869,000 followers, will be in attendance, spearheading the Fortnite tournament alongside his celebrity fan, Joe Jonas, as per The Verge.

Although the professional Fortnite streamer doesn't know the format yet, he said he wanted to participate in Stream Aid 2020 to do his part.

"Literally every single person who's in my livestream has someone who's affected, whether it be a parent out of a job, a friend who might be sick," Amyoony said.

Amyoony also said that he believes his role during these trying times is to take people's mind off of the global pandemic, and that he has seen a growth in his audience since more people are staying home to avoid getting affected by a coronavirus.

Local Streamers Can Join Too

As with any other live streams in Twitch, viewers from around the world could donate money.

But this time around, the money that will be gathered during the entirety of the Stream Aid 2020 will be donated to the United Nations' COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization.

Besides big names in the streaming world and celebrities, local Twitch streamers can join in the charity event with their own parallel co-stream.

Streamers who put the hashtag #TwitchStreamAid on their channel will also get the chance to be featured in the charity event.

Helping Musicians

The Stream Aid 2020 is co-presented by Amazon Music, as noted by Variety.

It's more than just helping raise funds for the COVID-19 relief fund, but also to help streamers, especially the music community who are also negatively affected by the coronavirus pandemic with the cancellation of thousands of music events.

The full lineup of streamers, artists, and athletes who will be headlining Twitch's Stream Aid 2020 as well as the schedule is available on Twitch's official website.

This is not the first time a charity event has been held on Twitch, as last year streamer Ben "DrLupo" Lupo has raised over $2 million in a single stream for St. Jude's.
