It's almost three years since Nintendo Switch was released in the market. This year has been one of the most successful years for the hybrid console.

Like a blessing in disguise, Switch became an in-demand Nintendo device amid Coronavirus pandemic. It is so in-demand that there were already reports of its shortage. The sad news is that this might continue for the next months to come.

According to Bloomberg, a possible lapse of Nintendo Switch production might happen pretty soon.

Nintendo said that the production team is now struggling to get the essential parts to create the console from different Asian countries due to the pandemic.

The Philippines and Malaysia are two of the main countries that produce the needed components in order to create a console. However, both of them already implemented lockdowns and travel bans as a way to curb the disease.

Since there will be a lack of required console parts, it is likely to limit its production this year-- even heading until the end of the year.

"The inventory may recover in the summer, but we may see shortages again toward the year-end because Nintendo wouldn't be able to produce enough units for the shopping season," said Hideki Yasuda, an analyst at Ace Research Institute.

For now, though, Nintendo company said that they had the production covered until the summer season, but no one knows how long it will last.

"We expect the COVID-19 impact on our production to go away by summer," said Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa.

It is also unlikely for the company to surpass its last year's production rate of 21 million sold consoles because of this production problem.

For those of you that are late on what's happening in the gaming world, Switch recently released a new version of a classic video game named Animal Crossing. In 2020, it was called Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Though it is not that complicated or adventurous as other games its competing, the game's cutesy lifestyle island gaming served the spot as record-breaking Switch game today.

Last April, the game officially outranked other famous video games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Fortnite as the top-grossing console game for March, according to a survey.

New Horizons has sold more digital units in a single month worth $5 million than any console game in history.

"The game's combination of social features and a relaxing setting likely appealed to individuals stuck at home. Closures of brick and mortar stores also meant that a higher share of consumers purchased the game digitally compared to past Switch titles," said on the survey.

This was the main reason why Nintendo's gaming console continues to have shortages despite Nintendo's effort to balance its production release.

So once you've got the chance to purchase, why not do it right now?
