Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad recently set up a TikTok account and uploaded a video doing the I'm Just A Kid Challenge with his wife.

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, Dr. Mohamad's TikTok profile, with a short description that reads, "Still young" has more than 21,000 fans. Indeed, he had shown his endearing character as he posed with his wife, Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, and recreated an old picture taken when they were younger.

The former prime minister published the video at his @chedetofficial account as a tribute as they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary and already has 70 likes. With the caption "64 and still going strong #LoveStory," the couple was candid as they copied their poses from the old photo.

He also shared the video in his Twitter account with 1.2 million followers, and it quickly gathered 160,000 views in just four hours. Meanwhile, after eight hours from posting, the video got over 400,000 views and more than 4,100 comments on Instagram, where the 95-year-old politician also has 1.6 million followers.

In the video, Dr. Mohamad also wrote a note: "I am shy at showing public affection. But we have been married for 64 years. I think it is worth celebrating our tolerance with each other and other feelings." The note was the caption of an earlier Instagram post showing photos of the couple taken near a lake or sea. The post now has nearly 120,000 after 12 hours.

Dr. Mahathir was the latest politician in Malaysia who joined TikTok-- a popular app among young users. TikTok users can create and edit short videos. They can add songs, music, or dialogues from movies and filters and other effects to their videos.

Netizens admire the forever love

One comment on Instagram says: "If this is not what I get from my future husband, then I don't want it. GOALSSS (crying icon)" while Unicef Malaysia also commented: "Love the #love" with five blue heart icons.

In the earlier shared photos, one user admired how the couple maintained their love for each other. "But your PDAs are all so endearing, and you both do it so well...we adore you both for them. Besides, in an age where family and relationships are easier to break than make, we all need reminding some bonds can remain unbroken," the Instagram user said.

One user in Twitter replied to the video saying: "You & Tun Siti Hasmah are the best couples. Post like this reminds the younger generation that long-lasting marriages is not a myth - they exists."

Mahathir Mohamad: Great love for Malaysia

Aside from his wife, Dr. Mahatir's other love is his great love for his country. At 94, he made headlines in February as he stepped down as Malaysia's prime minister after his coalition collapsed due to internal political rivalry. He was replaced by Muhyiddin Yassin, whom he defeated in 2018, according to BBC.

Regardless of the recent turn of events, Dr. Mahathir will keep a stronghold in Malaysia's history as the longest prime minister who served from 1981 to 2003. Now, he also has the record of the shortest length of service with just two years.
