A certain company called Reliable Robotics has successfully been able to make history by creating its very own unmanned flights! While the world is still struggling to create the perfect unmanned cars, it seems like Reliable Robotics took it a whole new step further.

Get to know Reliable Robotics

Reliable Robotics just recently conducted its very first test flight for the self-flying plane sometime last year using the previous Cessna 172 or the C172 which is a known four-seat, single-engine plane that is also considered one of the most common aircraft models to ever have existed.

The plane was able to successfully take a flight on its very own and was able to remain airborne for a total of 15 minutes just before landing again at the very same spot that it first came from.

This test has finally marked the very first time that a particular privately-funded company was able to operate a certain passenger airplane of this kind without having any pilot on board and being flown over a certain populated region.

Robert Rose CEO

Reliable Robotics' very own co-founder as well as Chief Executive Officer who is known as Robert Rose gave a statement regarding the success of the previous year's trial.

It was stated that they have spent the very first portion of their flight test program to focus on the actual C172. They also thoroughly tested every single aspect of their own system in simulation and have also conducted certain rigorous safety checks even before operating the whole aircraft even without having a pilot on board. It was also stated that they are now very proud to share what they have all been working on.

It was stated that by actually bringing the advanced automation towards aviation, they were finally able to deliver higher reliability, safety, and also convenience for the cargo operators and later on eventually for the passengers.

The more recent movements

Currently, Reliable Robotics has also seamlessly integrated its own autonomous platform to a newer Cessna 208 Caravan. This is a larger plane that is oftentimes used for certain short-haul cargo deliveries as well as passenger flights.

The plane is actually owned by FedEx and has successfully completed its own unmanned flight back in June of this current year. Rose also created Reliable Robotics back in 2017 alongside a certain fellow SpaceX veteran known as Juerg Frefel.

Currently, the company has already brought a total of about $33.5 billion in funding in order to support their whole project, according to Business Insider reports.

How did Reliable Robotics come to be?

When speaking about creating these self-flying planes, Rose gave a statement to Bloomberg saying that when he first started taking his own flying lessons, he then came upon a thought, why isn't all of this automated?

Rose reportedly worked on certain autonomous rockets as well as spacecraft and also cars. Aviation, as stated, was so much better to be able to understand in comparison to driving.
