Only a day after Twitter got swept up in an uproar loop over whether or not to accept leaks regarding a particular story, and the Republican Senate floated the possibility of sending a subpoena to CEO Jack Dorsey, the social media giant's platform is unexpectedly unavailable to many users.

Although long-standing users of Twitter recall the frequent presence of the "fail whale" website, it's typically safe these days, with the last big problem happening in July as a result of a security breach.

Twitter Investigates Outage Cause

According to a post of Jessica Garson, a team member of the developer forums of the social media, they are aware of the issue brought by an 'interruption' and that they're working on it. She added that there seems to be a few endpoints going back now.

A representative was also quoted saying that they are trying to address this problem as soon as possible and promised to post more and Tweet from @TwitterSupport.

UPDATE on Twitter Outage

The official status page of Twitter has also since been updated to acknowledge the outage, and explicitly states that there is no proof that the incident is triggered by a security breach or hack. It added that they are actively investigating internal root causes.

There is no official update yet as of this writing, but the service is beginning to work again for certain users at least.
