Raising Money for Charity

According to ComicBook, AOC raised a total of $200,000 when the live stream was held on Friday, November 27, on popular streaming platform Twitch.

This was not the first time the politician held a live stream of "Among Us," as she had streamed a month ago to raise awareness for the importance of voting, and after a month, AOC is back to help raise money for several charities.

AOC shared a tweet on her official Twitter account announcing the figure she has accumulated.

The charities chosen were for different organizations that help people get eviction defense legal aid, help local food pantries, as well as various community support groups.

According to the Act Blue official website, the money that was raised will be evenly split between the Street Vendor Project, Make the Road New York, Legal Services NYC, Neighborhood Housing Services of Queens CDC, Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities, Inc., and Jewish Community Council of Pelham Parkway.

Innersloth's New-Found Success

Those who were unable to catch the "Among Us" Twitch stream last Friday but wanted to make their contributions can still do so via the Act Blue website.

"Among Us" was developed by indie game developers Innersloth and has recently celebrated its second anniversary early this November.

The game was initially released in 2018, and while it did have some success when it was released, people basically re-discovered the game during the coronavirus pandemic when everyone was forced to stay most of the time indoors.

Moreover, streaming platforms like Twitch and game influencers and creators who streamed the game also helped blow up the game, gaining new-found success and popularity.

Now, it's almost hard not to see the game on the streaming platform as well as on Youtube, where big names such as Felix Kjellberg, aka PewDiePie, Jimmy Donaldson, aka Mr. Beast, and even beauty gurus like James Charles and Nikkie de Jager, aka NikkieTutorials, among others, were playing the game to make Youtube content.

How to Play "Among Us"

Nevertheless, if you haven't played the game yet, it's a multiplayer game wherein four to ten people can join a game.

Among the players, one up to three gamers will be randomly chosen as Impostors, whose primary goal is to kill the Crewmates of a ship discreetly.

Meanwhile, the remaining Crewmates have to finish tasks around the ship and practically avoid getting killed, but if they were or someone else has died, it's up to the gamers to vote out who they think is pretty sus and kick out the Impostors.

Kicking out the right players helps Crewmates win the game, but if the Impostor/s were able to kill everyone aboard or avoid getting voted out, they get the victory.

"Among Us" is available on PC via Steam and on iOS and Android devices.
