Funimation confirmed its initial teaser that it would release an application for the Nintendo Switch platform, offering to stream Anime only content. The company has officially announced that there would be a downloadable app for the Nintendo Switch for Tuesday, December 15, and stream anime on the gaming platform for the United States and Canadian regions.

The popular American media and entertainment company that distributes Anime, Funimation, has recently announced its collaboration with Japanese entertainment conglomerate, Nintendo, to provide a streaming service for its hybrid console. Funimation is known for its dubbing and distribution of Asian animated content, with the popular Japanese anime.

  Funimation regarded this venture to be the first "anime-only" streaming application for the Nintendo Switch, with operations and available only in the Northern American region of the US and Canada. The company has assured the public that it would soon come to the United Kingdom, Mexico, Ireland, and other countries in the following year.

The company's goal is to "service fans on every platform," transcending from its Funimation app for smartphones and other past consoles, including Xbox, PS4, and through an internet web browser. Nintendo Switch is the latest addition to the consoles, with future releases for next-generation devices.

Recently, Sony acquired Crunchyroll, another popular anime streaming platform that is one of the most preferred sources for new Japanese animated releases. The combination of Sony's subsidiary company, Funimation, and the Crunchyroll platform would soon empower Japanese anime's availability for streaming in the country.

Funimation: Soon Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X

Alongside the announcement from Funimation, the company has also regarded several of their plans in the coming year of 2021, particularly in the next few months that users should watch closely. Nintendo Switch's inclusion in the streaming platform maybe a 2020 buzzer-beater, but it certainly would not be the last for the company.

Next year, more surprises and packages are coming from Funimation to other consoles present in the market. Consoles including, Sony's very own next-generation console, the PlayStation 5, will also get its Funimation app for streaming within the platform.

Not only that, Microsoft's duo of consoles, the Xbox Series S and Series X, would also see its Funimation app to be up and running next year. 2021 would prove to be a massive year for Funimation as it branches out to new platforms to stream the hottest and most anticipated animated shows and movies in the application.

Funimation steps right up for providing the latest Anime for the Nintendo Switch in the country, joining streaming service, Hulu, on the hybrid console. Moreover, there will be additional function for the popular Nintendo Switch, matching up anime alongside its popular and favorite games from developers.
