Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Buds Pro early in January 2021 with its Galaxy S21 Series. Although the Galaxy Buds Pro date is still tentative, Samsung has confirmed its release on Galaxy Bud Pro moniker, the support page for TWS earphones.

So far the support page and Samsung's official website has not released explicit full details for the Galaxy Buds Pro. However, various leaks have made its expected features, price, and specs available for public view- and they seem to be better than Apple's Airpods Pro

Price

According to GSM arena, the rumored price of Galaxy Buds Pro is $199, which is much more expensive than the Galaxy Buds Live, although $50 cheaper than the Airpods Pro. Probably its biggest advantage is that it is relatively cheaper than Airpods, although this is not the only advantage Galaxy buds Pro has over Airpods Pro at this point.

Specifications

Specs release suggest that the Galaxy Buds Pro will be launched  with an IPX7 water-resistant rating. Now, Airpods Pro only features an IPX4 level of protection. To better highlight the difference, Apple's Airpods Pro are claimed to be sweat and water resistant, but the Galaxy Buds Pro can likely survive even when submerged in water up to one meter for as long as 30 minutes. Someone is clearly ahead of the game at this point. This is already a huge leap for Samsung, as the past Galaxy buds Live only had an IPX2 rating.

One of the biggest concerns of bluetooth-earphone users is the battery life. Latest leaks suggest that Galaxy Bud Pro's battery life can last up to 28 hours, although this can only be made possible when supported through the case. Per charge, it is expected to offer 8 hours of usage.

On the other hand, Airpods Pro can give users a battery life of 4.5 hours without the case, and a good 24 hours when topped up through the case. Again, if the leak is correct, Galaxy Bud Pro is still ahead of the game when it comes to convenience.

However, it is undeniable that Apple offers a good feature to its users including the ANC and spatial audio feature that makes video and music listening a much more optimal experience. But Samsung seems to set up a huge defense by coming up with their own version of spatial audio, aslo knowns as 3D Audio, along with ANC.

The Verdict: Who wins?

Airpods Pro may have made its name in the market, and has undeniably satisfied users, but Galaxy Bud Pro seems to be a great contender and a more lucrative option for buyers this 2021. If the leaks are correct, we have to give props to Samsung Galaxy Bud Pro for winning  ahead of the Airpods when it comes to price, sustainability and convenience.
